Our early careers programmes are designed to grow future leaders. In fact, many of our previous graduates and placement students have go on to make a huge difference to the business. To follow in their footsteps, you have to be up for a challenge and willing to drive your own development.

Placing you in a real job from day one, providing you with a structured development framework, and allowing you to put all your theoretical knowledge to the test, the programme is designed to turn you into the kind of hospitality professional we depend on for our future success. We want you to be the boss of your own career. So although the programme does include regular reviews, and while your manager and your mentor will always be there to offer guidance, most of the direction will come from you.

There are also some great perks for you to look forward to, including competitive pay, fantastic annual leave allowance, a chance to join our very own pension scheme, and a 25% discount when eating or staying in our hotels and restaurants. Age and experience are not important. What really matters is that you are passionate, full of great ideas, and willing to work in all areas of our business to become an expert in your field.

Apprenticeships

We set up the Premier Inn Hospitality Apprenticeship programme in 2010 to help more people achieve their ambition of building a long-term career with us. Since then, over 1,100 trainees have completed an apprenticeship, and a further 950 are currently working towards one. The initiative has proved a great success, with more than a third of apprentices going on to gain promotion within 15 months.

Our apprenticeships are only open to existing employees. So to get on a programme, you need to successfully apply for a team member role in one of our hotels. The programme is equivalent to five GCSEs A*-C and lasts for 12 months. Over that time, you will:

  • Enjoy a structured development programme
  • Work across two departments
  • Go to five development days
  • Complete a business project
  • Gain functional qualifications in maths and English
  • Get a workbook to support your learning

Once you’ve completed your programme, the next stage of your development journey can begin. This might mean taking time to grow in your role or it could see you jumping straight on to one of our more advanced apprenticeships. These include:

  • Level 2: Intermediate Apprenticeship in Hospitality Services
  • Level 3: Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership
  • Level 4: Higher Apprenticeship in Hospitality Management

Taking on a succession of different roles at Premier Inn sites across the country, you will gain experience and insight into key operational areas, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Reception. The aim is to help you gain a deep understanding of our business and provide you with a fast-track route into management at Premier Inn.

To make sure your progress is as rapid as possible, we offer first-class mentoring from a senior leader plus structured management development programmes. By the end of it, you will know exactly what it takes to deliver our brand promise of “making our guests feel brilliant through a great night’s sleep” – and you will be ready to build a fantastic career in management within Premier Inn.
